It didn’t take long for the Red Wing’s to start an injury list as they lost their exhibition opener 5-to-1 last night at Pittsburgh. Johan Franzen suffered a leg injury, described as a charley horse, in the first period and had to leave the ice when he took a knee dished out by a Penguin defenseman who was sent to the penalty box.
Detroit goalie Chris Osgood gave up 5 goals on 27 shots. The game was the first hockey contest played in the Penguin’s new arena, the Consol Energy Center.
The Red Wing’s second of eight pre-season games is tomorrow night at Joe Louis Arena against the Blackhawks.
