MIAMI (Reuters) - Arizona Cardinals' defensive lineman Darnell Dockett has signed a lucrative four-year contract extension which will keep him with the NFC West team until 2015.
The Cardinals did not disclose details of the terms but Dockett told a news conference that he believed he was now up with the best paid players in his position.
Local media reports said the two-times Pro Bowl selection could earn up to $50 million with $31 million guaranteed.
The former Florida State lineman was taken by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2004 draft and helped the Arizona team to the Super Bowl in 2009, where they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Dockett made three sacks in that game in Tampa to match Reggie White's Super Bowl record set for Green Bay in their win over New England in 1997.
The Georgia native made seven sacks and 51 tackles last season and has started every game in the last five years for the franchise.
