The Texas Rangers advanced to the World Series for the first time in franchise history after defeating the New York Yankees 6-to-1 last night in Game Six of the American League Championship Series at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Texas won the best-of-7 set 4-games-to-2 with Ranger’s outfielder Josh Hamilton named MVP of the series. The Rangers had never won a playoff series until this year.
Texas will face either the San Francisco Giants or Philadelphia Phillies in the Fall Classic with Texas on the road for Game One of the World Series starting next Wednesday night.
The NLCS between the Giants and Phillies has returned to the City of Brotherly Love for Game Six tonight at Citizens Bank Park. The two-time defending National League champion Phils won Game Five on Thursday to extend the series and bring the best-of-seven set back home. They remain in a 3-games-to-2 hole, and will be eliminated if they lose again in the series. If the Phils win tonight, a decisive Game Seven will be played tomorrow night in Philadelphia.
