Johan Franzen supplied the go-ahead goal in his return to the lineup, as the Red Wings burned the Calgary Flames 4-to-2 last night at Joe Louis Arena. Franzen, who missed one game with a mild concussion, broke a 2-2 tie at the 7:55 mark of the third period. Henrik Zetterberg, Nicklas Lidstrom and Todd Bertuzzi also scored for Detroit, which kicked off a four-game homestand with a win that improved its record to 4-1-and-1. Jimmy Howard made 34 saves for the Red Wings, who host Anaheim tomorrow night.
The Kalamazoo Wings open their season in the ECHL tonight at Toledo and then tomorrow night, it’s the K-Wings Orange Ice home opener against Cincinnati.
