Joe Louis Arena will be decked out in pink tonight for the Red Wing’s fourth Breast Cancer Awareness night as they end a 4-day layoff with a game against Calgary. There will be a silent auction and 50-50 raffle and the sale of special pink hats and breast cancer awareness pins are also planned.
The Wing’s players will wrap their sticks in pink hockey tape and goalie Jimmy Howard's glove will be pink instead of red for the pregame warm-ups. Funds raised during the contest against the Flames will help with the costs of treatment for uninsured and underinsured women in the Detroit Metro area. Meanwhile, Detroit forward Kris Draper is scheduled for hernia surgery today and is expected to be out action for up to six weeks.
