The Red Wings were taken down last night at Dallas where the Stars beat Detroit 4-to-1. The defeat spoiled Mike Modano’s return to Dallas, although the Star’s career scoring leader and now Red Wing’s forward received a loud ovation during a first period stoppage in play with his face shown on the arena’s video board.
Modano’s two decades with the Star’s franchise ended when he signed as a free agent this summer getting a one-year deal from Detroit. Niklas Kronwell scored on a power-play midway through the third for Detroit's lone goal. Chris Osgood gave up all four goals on just 15 shots for the Red Wings, who fell to 2-1-and-1 with the loss while Dallas is 3-and-0.
Detroit’s Johan Franzen suffered a possible concussion and left in the first period with a head injury after taking a hit from Dallas defenseman Mark Fistric. Tomorrow night, it’s Detroit at Phoenix.
