DETROIT -- A judge has ordered an Inkster Police officer to stand trial for allegedly telling witnesses to lie and coaching them during a 2005 trial. Robert McArthur was bound over for trial in 36th District Court by Judge David Robinson Jr. Former Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Karen Plants was bound over on the same charges Tuesday.
The judge may also decide today if former Circuit Judge Mary Waterstone and Inkster Police Sergeant Scott Rechtzigel will face trial stemming from the case. Jurors were not told of the role of a paid informant in the case involving the confiscation of over one-hundred pounds of cocaine at a Detroit bar.
