DEARBORN (WKZO) -- AAA Michigan is confirming what Gas Buddy and Trilby Lundberg have been saying: Gas prices have spiked nearly 20 cents per gallon in the last few days.
The Auto Club's weekly report of prices across the state shows most stations in the $2.95 range in eastern and northern Michigan, and just a few cents lower than that in west Michigan.
Lundberg blames pressure on the price of crude oil due to the falling value of the dollar on world markets.
"Fuel prices are being propped up by crude and will go where crude oil goes. If crude oil doesn't drop from it's current - nearly $83 per barrel - we will see at least another nickel at the pump," Lundberg said.
That means prices in west Michigan could crack the $3 mark.
