(Lansing, MI) -- A federal grant has come to the Michigan State Police to fund 21 trooper jobs. The five-point-eight million dollars comes from the U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services Hiring Program. Governor Granholm called the money "great news" for the state. The federal funds will provide 100-percent of the approved salary and benefits for entry level officers for three years.
