Yesterday’s trio of Best of 5 division playoff games was highlighted by Tim Lincecum and his sensational postseason pitching debut last night as the Giant’s ace allowed only two hits and a walk while fanning 14 in a 1-to-0 game one shutout over the Braves in San Francisco.
In the American League, both the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers grabbed 2-games-to-nothing leads in their series. The Yankees beat the Twins in Minnesota 5-to-2 while the Rangers topped Tampa Bay 6-to-0.
Coming up tonight, it’s Cincinnati at Philadelphia for Game Two following Roy Halladay’s no-hitter for Philly on Wednesday and then the Giants try to make it two straight over the Braves. The American League series don’t resume until tomorrow.
