THREE RIVERS -- A Three Rivers parolee has been arrested with police alleging that the man set a house on fire to cover up a burglary.

48-year-old James Eversole is in the St. Joseph County jail.  He has a prior murder conviction on his record.

Sergeant Mike Mooney says they believe he robbed his neighbor's home in the 800 block of Main Street in Three Rivers before torching it around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Police found evidence that he broke in and stole cash and jewelry before intentionally starting the blaze.

No one was hurt, but a pet was killed in the fire.  Eversole had been parolled late last year after serving 23-years in prison for second degree murder.
