Packers lose more than a game

The injury bug has nipped at the Packers yet again.  Head Coach Mike McCarthy announced today Brandon Chillar has reinjured his shoulder that forced him out of five games earlier this season and he won't be available for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field.  Spencer Havner has also been ruled out with a hamstring, pulled in his first game back since being claimed off waivers from the Detroit Lions.  Running back Dimitri Nance suffered a concussion and he'll be evaulated through the normal protocol this week.  Greg Jennings suffered a foot strain and may miss practice time this week and Pat Lee re-sprained his ankle and McCarthy said he'll be challenged to get ready by Sunday.

Day after questioning at McCarthy's press conference in the wake of the 20-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons centered on the meager 26 yards rushing on 11 carries from the backs.  Aaron Rodgers led the team's ground attack with 51 yards on 12 carries.  McCarthy said playing on the fast Georgia Dome track led him to rely on the perimeter passing game, often using five receivers and an empty backfield.  It produced 344 yards through the air.   McCarthy was not happy with two failed short yardage playus however, Nance was stuffed on third and one leading to a first quarter field goal and Rodgers was denied twice from the one on quarterback sneaks, fumbling the second try into the end zone for a critical touchback.  McCarthy had high praise for Rodger's passing performance, calling it one of the finest quarterbacking games in his tenure in Green Bay, particularly the game tying 90 yard drive in the final minutes.  He also criticized the kickoff coverage team for allowing Eric Weems a middle return for 40 yards where backside pressure never arrived and middle coverage players failed to get off blocks, complicated by Matt Wilhelm's high tackle attempt that resulted in a 15 yard facemask penalty giving Atlanta the ball at midfield.  Matt Ryan needed only to drive 20 yards for Matt Bryant's game winning 47 yard field goal.
