BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- Charges may be dropped against four Lakeview High School students who had permission from their school to be out in the woods shooting a film Monday, but were cuffed and arrested for disturbing the peace.
Apparently police did not know they were out there playing with toy guns when the calls came in, and they began locking down area schools and dispatched officers with real guns drawn.
Parents say the officers should have gotten a clue when they spotted the big camera they were using. They are not happy their children face criminal prosecution for a school project.
The officer assigned to the school knew they were out there, but apparently he did not pass it along. The case is being reviewed.
