The Red Wings last night coasted to an easy 6-to-2 win over the Oilers at Joe Louis Arena. Tomas Holmstrom and Dan Cleary both scored twice for Detroit while goaltender Jimmy Howard finished with 23 saves against Edmonton. Johan Franzen and Valtteri Filppula also scored for the Red Wings, who have captured five of their last six games. Detroit will continue its current six-game homestand tomorrow against Colorado.
In the ECHL tonight, the Kalamazoo Wings play at home against the Gwinnett Gladiators while in college hockey, Western Michigan has the weekend off, but 8th ranked Michigan is at home tonight and tomorrow night against number-11 Notre Dame while Michigan State hosts Ohio State both nights at Munn Ice Arena.
