KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It may not seem like it this week, but the cold weather is coming and the higher energy bills that come during the heating season can be devastating to someone who is barely making it.
"We truly believe a lot of people forego paying their mortgage when their utility bills are high," said Mattie Jordan-Woods of the Northside Association for Community Development in Kalamazoo.
"Maybe this is a way to get them that help early on," Jordan-Woods said, referring to a public forum for residents to meet with the people who can help their budget weather this winter.
That is set for Tuesday evening.
The Michigan Public Service Commission is organizing the event. It will begin at 6pm at the NACD offices at 612 N. Park Street in Kalamazoo.
