MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - The death of a 10-year-old Milwaukee boy is partially why almost 2 million dart gun sets were recalled Monday. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recalls of toy sets imported by Henry Gordy International of New Jersey, and sold by Family Dollar stores around the country.
According to the government, the Milwaukee boy and a 9-year-old Chicago boy died after they chewed on the plastic darts that were about one-inch long. They slipped down their throats, and the suction part of the dart cut off the youngsters’ breathing.
The sets were sold from 2005 through the early part of last year. The safety commission said Henry Gordy would not recall the dart sets, so Family Dollar did it for them.
