As the off-season has begun for the Red Wings with their second round Game Five playoff elimination loss Saturday night at San Jose, the big question mark for Detroit is the future of team Captain Nicklas Lidstrom. The 40-year old defenseman said Sunday he hasn’t yet started to figure out if retirement is his best option right now.

Detroit coach Mike Babcock said the Red Wing’s deserve credit for playing with a lot of pride during a season filled with injuries. The Shark’s 2-to-1 victory over Detroit Saturday sends them onto the Western Conference finals against either the Vancouver Canucks or Chicago Blackhawks. The Canucks stayed alive last night with a 4-to-1 win over the Blackhawks, who still lead the series 3-games-to-2.
