Johan Franzen had four goals and two assists as the Red Wings staved off elimination with a 7-1 win over the Sharks last night in Detroit in Game Four of their Western Conference semifinal series. Franzen lit the lamp three times in a span of 3:26 in the first period, and added his fourth marker to close out the scoring in the third period.
Todd Bertuzzi had a goal and three assists for the Red Wings, who still trail in the best-of-seven set three-games-to-one. Jimmy Howard made 28 saves in the victory. The Red Wing’s attempt to become only the third team in N-H-L history to bounce back and win a series after being in a 0-3 deficit continues in Game Five tomorrow night in San Jose.
