WHITE PIGEON (WKZO) -- Six St. Joseph County Deputies who opened fire and killed a drunk and depressed Constantine man last weekend were justified in their actions. It was revealed for the first time that a shotgun blast from Aaron McCausland’s weapon hit one of the deputies in the leg.
At a news conference yesterday, prosecutor John McDonough showed a dash-cam video of the incident, saying it justifies the officers’ return of gun fire after they spent several minutes trying to talk McCausland out of his truck and away from his gun. The Deputies are still on paid leave for psychological evaluation.
