KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- An off campus party that attracted hundreds of students to an apartment parking lot just west of the WMU campus had to be broken up by police, and seven who were arrested may face assault, resisting charges, and perhaps be booted out of school.

The gathering began at about noon, and if the YouTube videos are any indication, the kids were having a good time. It took them two hours to disperse the huge crowd with pepper spray. Several roads in the area were closed off while officers engaged the students.

University Spokesperson Cheryl Roland says they will wait to get the list of those arrested and the charges. Seven were arrested for assaulting officers and resisting. The kids were mostly wearing green, celebrating St. Patty’s Day.
