>>Courtroom Altercation Leads To Police Chase 

(Stanton, MI)  --  A Montcalm County man could face up to 80 years behind bars following a courtroom altercation that turned into a police chase yesterday.  Mark Dwayne McCuaig reportedly got into an altercation with officers at the County Courthouse in Stanton just before 11 a.m.  McCuaig was Tasered, but not affected due to bulky clothing and used a friend's car to flee a short time later.  After barricading himself in a pole barn for a half-hour and then damaging several police cruisers, he was eventually arrested.  He has been charged with 23 counts, in addition to his original charges of driving on a suspended license.  

>>Kalamazoo Authorities Say Off-Duty Officer Shot Robbery Suspect 

(Kalamazoo, MI)  --  A man who allegedly tried to rob a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer has been arrested.  KDPS Chief Jeff Hadley said Officer Derrick Turner shot the suspect in the parking lot of an apartment complex when the man "rapidly" approached him in what police believe was a robbery attempt.  The suspect was arrested in Battle Creek, where he sought treatment for the wound to his leg.  Turner was not injured. 

>>Unlicensed Adult Circumciser Arrested In Grand Rapids 

(Grand Rapids, MI)  --  A Sparta-area man is facing charges of performing circumcisions on adult men in West Michigan without having a license.  Thomas Heugel was doing the procedures in his home and lined up clients over the Internet.  The Kent County Sheriff's Department said they know of three victims to date, but believe the 56-year-old had others.  Heugel made a court appearance yesterday and was given a five-thousand-dollar bond. 

>>Woman Sentenced For June Kidnapping 

(Grand Rapids, MI)  --  A 20-year-old suburban Grand Rapids woman has been sentenced for allegedly kidnapping a child from a church day care last June.  Tabitha Reid pleaded guilty in January to kidnapping Savannah Nolf from Kentwood Community Church in Gaines Township, where she worked as a volunteer.  Reid was sentenced yesterday to a maximum of 20 years behind bars.   

>>Student Arrrested In Bomb Scare At Detroit School 

(Detroit, MI)  --  A 14-year-old student has been arrested by Detroit police after a homemade bomb went off inside the Phoenix Multicultural School on the city's southeast side Wednesday morning.  A seventh grade student said she was knocked to the ground by the bomb, which was created by household chemicals.  School officials say no students were hurt.  Classes are expected to resume at the school today.  The incident remains under investigation. 

>>Former Detroit Lion Bound Over On Sexual Assault Charges 

(Roseville, MI)  --  A former Fraser High School track coach who played for the Detroit Lions has been bound over for trial in a sexual assault case.  Thirty-eight-year-old Tommy Boyd is facing charges of first and second degree criminal sexual conduct and accosting a minor for immoral purposes.  During a preliminary hearing in Macomb County Circuit Court yesterday, a 16-year-old girl testified Boyd offered her money if she would have sex with him last July.  He is also accused of sexually assaulting another teen at the school in 2006.  Boyd is facing a hearing in that case on March 24th.
