LANSING -- Michigan has once again been eliminated from the "Race To The Top" competition for extra federal education money.  The state failed to make the cut of nineteen finalists announced today by the Obama administration.  Michigan's application had asked for 400-million dollars to try to improve school performance.

In the first round of the competition, only two states, Delaware and Tennessee, won grants based on their school reform plans.  About 3.4-billion dollars in "Race To The Top" funding has yet to be awarded.
