Anybody that's breathing has to know that actress Lindsay Lohan went to jail yesterday. It was reported on virtually every media outlet in the country.
A mob of reporters and paparazzi were there to cover this monumental event. They were there to essentially document her downfall. It was obvious that people were actually enjoying themselves. Lohan was finally getting her due.
There is no argument that she brought this on herself. She broke the law over and over and thought she would never be held accountable. She drove drunk, took drugs, missed court appearances and much more.
Does she deserve to go to jail? Absolutely. But this whole event had a feeling of celebration. That's when I asked myself What are we celebrating?.
1.)Are we celebrating a young confused woman whose life is spinning out of control?
2.)Do we find her drinking binges and numerous rehabs funny?
3.)Maybe we find joy in following her dysfunctional family's exploits.
4.)I guess listening to the rumors concerning her sexual identity is always good for a laugh.
Yes Lohan screwed up and Lohan needs to pay the price. When she gets out we have 2 choices. We can show some humanity and hope that she gets the help she needs or we can continue to ridicule and use her as a punch line.
If you choose the latter I believe it says more about your character than Lohan's.
