The highest scoring American born player in NHL history is seriously considering playing next season for the Red Wings. Forty-year old Mike Modano of the Dallas Stars, a native of Westland, Michigan, says it’s either Detroit for the 2010-11 season or retirement.
Modano sat with Red Wing’s owner Mike Ilitch in the Ilitch suite last night at Comerica Park to watch the Tiger’s thrilling win over the Orioles. Detroit is reportedly ready to offer Modano close to a million dollars for next season.
The Red Wings announced Tuesday that they’ve re-signed Michigan State product Drew Miller for 650-thousand dollars for the upcoming season. Miller, who will be playing in his fifth season in the NHL, joined Detroit last November from Tampa Bay and finished with a career best 10 goals and 9 assists.
