BATTLE CREEK -- As we first reported yesterday morning, a Battle Creek man was jailed Friday after doctors at Battle Creek Health Systems suspected his 5 month old son had been physically abused. Now that infant has died at Bronson Hospital and 25 year old Shawn Delano Brown has been ordered held on 1.5-million dollars bond, while the prosecutor considers new charges, possibly open murder.

Brown initially told doctors that the boy, Shawn Brown Jr., had choked while he was being fed at a home on Rittenhouse Ave., but the doctors say the injuries were more consistent with a violent shaking. An autopsy will be conducted today to confirm the cause of death.
