Three different Red Wings scored goals to back 37 saves from Jimmy Howard in a 3-1 win over the Hurricanes at Joe Louis Arena. Nicklas Lidstrom scored a power-play goal in the first period and Drew Miller added a power-play tally in the second to stake Detroit to a 2-0 lead. Carolina got on the board at 7:17 of the third, but Henrik Zetterberg restored the Wings' two-goal lead at the 14:40 mark. The win kept the Red Wings one point behind Los Angeles for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff spot as the Kings last night beat Anaheim. Tomorrow afternoon, it’s Detroit at Dallas. Tonight in the ECHL, the Kalamazoo Wings play at South Carolina.
