BATTLE CREEK -- There are crimes of passion, crimes motivated by greed or need, and crimes of opportunity. The later is what happened very early yesterday morning at the Liberty Mart on Capital Avenue in Battle Creek. A driver left his keys in the car when he popped into the store, and when he came out it was gone.
This time he got lucky, police spotted it, pulled it over and arrested the thief. Sometimes they get stripped, cleaned out or wrecked, Police say take the keys with you, and never ever leave them running unattended.
