The Pistons got a team-high and season-high 21 points last night from Tracy McGrady as they topped the Celtics, 104-to-92 at The Palace. Tayshaun Prince added 18 points for Detroit, which improved to 11-and-21 on the season, including 8-and-8 at home.
Boston, which lost for just the second time in 17 games, had to play much of the night without forward Kevin Garnett. He left late in the first quarter and did not return due to a lower right leg injury. Garnett went up for a dunk, hung on the rim and had a pained look on his face even before he landed softly on the floor and was limping afterward.
He went in for X-rays, which showed no fracture. The Celtics say he hurt a muscle and it’s not a knee injury. The Pistons play at Phoenix tomorrow night.
