KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The latest round of gas price hikes are stirring up more than just temporary concern, with some analysts suggesting it's the beginning of a larger jump in the coming weeks and months. 

"Four dollars a gallon certainly looks like a possibility," according to Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy.com. 

DeHaan believes motorists could be headed for new gas price records.

He blames a series of pressures: the improving economy, supplier decisions and global forces, all working together.

"With the economy on the mend...we might see a similar situation [like we saw] in 2008," DeHaan said.

Gas prices exceeded $4 per gallon for a period of time in 2008.
