KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Warrants have been issued charging nine Kalamazoo area residents with cashing forged and counterfeit checks.
Investigators have yet to identify the mastermind behind the 6-month-long series of crimes - the person who printed the checks and kept most of the $14,000 paid out by 11 different businesses that were victimized by the check cashers.
The checks are all identical. They were passed at businesses in the city, Kalamazoo Township and around the county.
Investigators are asking for the public's help to identify the man behind the scheme.
