DETROIT -- (WKZO) A strong defensive effort by the Detroit Lions held the 2nd place Green Bay Packers to 3 points as the Lions won their first divisional game since late 2007 Sunday afternoon. The win is the Lions 3rd of the season.
The Lions fought throughout the game through a strong Packers defense before finally scoring on a 13-yard-screen pass from Drew Stanton to Will Heller at the 8:04 mark of the 4th quarter.
The Packers than went for a 4th down and 1 with under 2 minutes to go by throwing a deep pass to former Western Michigan Bronco Greg Jennings but the pass was overthrown and the Lions were able to run out the clock.
The loss is a huge one for the Packers who lost their starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a concussion during the game. The Packers fall to 8-5 on the season which drops them even further behind divisional rival Chicago in the race for 1st place in the NFC North.
Drew Stanton finished one of his only starts 10-for-22 for 117 yards, a touchdown and 2 interceptions in the win.
