Birmingham, Alabama (Reuters) - Vampire want-to-be Evan Francis Brown celebrated the Halloween season by using a fork or spoon to burn the letter "V" into the forehead of a 17-year-old, police said on Thursday.
The 20-year-old Albertville, Ala. man, known as "Vamp," fled after the victim sought treatment and was caught when he showed up for court on unrelated charges, according to Sergeant Wayne Keener of the police department in Gadsden, where the incident allegedly occurred.
"We went to the residence where he had lived. It was filled with satanic symbols on the wall. It was some kind of cult," said Keener.
Also found was a book on witchcraft stolen from the local library, police said. The police department has condemned the house.
The victim claims he was tricked by Brown, who invited him to play a game, Detective Mike Hooks reportedly told the Gadsden Times.
The teen was tied up, beaten, branded with the "V" and burned with cigarettes, according to Hooks.
Brown was charged with assault this week over the incident.
