The Red Wings looked a bit tired last night after leading 2-to-1 over the Sharks at the end of the first period and San Jose seized on the moment with 3 goals in the middle period on their way to a 5-to-2 victory over Detroit at Joe Louis Arena.
The Red Wings were playing a day after returning from Los Angeles and their overtime loss to the Kings on Saturday night. Jimmy Howard took the loss in goal for Detroit while facing 35 shots by the Sharks. Tomas Holmstrom registered a goal and an assist for Detroit. Johan Franzen also scored and Brian Rafalski had two assists for the Western Conference leading Red Wings. Tomorrow night, Detroit hosts Nashville.
Last night in the ECHL, the Kalamazoo Wings won 7-to-3 over South Carolina, where they play the Stingrays again tonight in Charleston.
