There was an 82 minute rain delay during last night’s game between the Tigers and White Sox in Chicago but the interruption didn’t deter the Chisox from making it 7 wins in 9 meetings so far this season with their visitors from Motown. The White Sox doubled up the Tigers 8-to-4 in the opener of a 3-game weekend series at U.S. Cellular Field.
Ryan Raburn and Brandon Inge both went deep for Detroit but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Tigers from slipping to 10-and-a-half games behind the A-L Central Division leading Twins, who won last night to stay one game ahead of the White Sox.
Jeremy Bonderman allowed six runs and seven hits in six frames to suffer the loss and fall to 6-and-8. Mark Buehrle picked up the victory for the Pale Hose, who have won 22 of their last 26 home games.
Rick Porcello gets the start tonight for Detroit against ex-Tiger Edwin Jackson. The Cubs last night lost 6-to-3 to the Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
