KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A little night work. There was a time when road construction crews really didn’t care about what their activity did to local business, but those days are over. Crews have been bending over backwards to minimize the impact of the work on Westnedge. That’s why they will pay extra for night work on the weekend when crews must close Westnedge to demolish the overpasses.
M-DOT’s Mark Schrippa says the first interruption comes this weekend, from 10pm Saturday to 11AM Sunday. He says businesses along the strip depend on traffic. Schrippa says no explosives, just cutting tools cranes and torches will be used to remove the span.
