The Red Wings tonight will try even up their first round Western Conference playoff series with the Coyotes at two games apiece as Detroit hosts Phoenix at Joe Louis Arena. It’s not a must win for the Red Wings, but the urgency is there as Detroit doesn’t want to go down 3-games-to-1 heading to Phoenix for Game Five on Friday night.
Detroit Coach Mike Babcock says it’s all about the guys on his team outworking the opponent. The Red Wings did it in Game 2 at Phoenix, where they won 7-to-4. But the Coyotes got the jump on Detroit in their 4-to-2 win Sunday at the Joe.
The Red Wings also have to cut down on turnovers as they coughed up the puck 24 times in game 3 compared to just six in their game two victory. In last night’s Western Conference playoff action, the Los Angeles Kings beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-to-3 to put the Kings up 2-games-to-1.
