NEW YORK (Reuters) - Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett has been suspended for the second game of his team's first-round playoff series with the Miami Heat for his role in a heated confrontation between both sides, the NBA said on Sunday.

Garnett elbowed Quentin Richardson in the face during the fourth quarter of Game One, when the Heat guard approached Boston forward Paul Pierce, who was laying injured on the court.

The exchange set off some minor pushing between the teams. Richardson was fined $25,000 for the incident.

The Celtics lead the best-of-seven series 1-0 after their 85-76 victory Saturday. Game Two is scheduled for Tuesday.
