The power play did in Detroit last night at Phoenix where the Coyotes scored all of their goals with a man advantage to beat the Red Wings 3-to-2 in Game One of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. Phoenix netted the go-ahead goal 2:19 into the third period when the Coyotes outshot the Red Wings 20-to-10.
Tomas Holmstrom and Nicklas Lidstrom lit the lamp for Detroit in the first period. Jimmy Howard stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced in net for the Red Wings. Phoenix will host Game Two tomorrow night before the best of seven series shifts to Detroit for Game Three Sunday afternoon.
