The N-H-L’s second season begins tonight with four playoff games including a healthy, red hot Red Wing’s team playing the surprising Coyotes at Phoenix with the opening faceoff at 10 p.m. Michigan time. Detroit and Phoenix have the best winning percentages in the league following the break for the Olympics the Red Wings with a 16-3-and-2 record since Vancouver while the Coyotes were 13-4-and-2.
History favors Detroit though with the Red Wings in the playoffs for the 19th straight year and looking for a third straight trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Coyotes haven’t been in the playoffs since 2002 and you have to go back to 1987 for when they last won a series. Game 2 is Friday night in Phoenix before the series shifts to Detroit for Game 3 Sunday afternoon.
