KALAMAZOO -- Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man late Sunday after he attempted to use a cab as a getaway car.  It was nearly midnight when deputies spotted a Ford pickup traveling down West Main and attempted to stop the driver for an equipment violation.  At first, the driver did not pull over, but he eventually turned in to the Meijer parking lot.  That's when he stopped his truck behind the store and fled on foot.

A K-9 unit tracked him to the area of Westlin and Bunkerhill, and there they learned a man had just recently called for a cab to pick him up in that neighborhood.  Deputies were able to get to the cab first, and when the suspect flagged down the cab in the 1200 block of Bunkerhill he was arrested by deputies waiting inside.

He was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail on charges of Fleeing and Eluding, Resist and Obstructing, Drive on a Suspended License, and two unrelated misdemeanor warrants.
