THREE RIVERS --   St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough has announced the death of K-9 Officer Anjia, a member of the Three Rivers Police Department.

McDonough says the German Shepard sniffed out many drug dealers, tracked down many bad guys and made felons thinking of fleeing, reconsider and surrender with a single bark.    She was named co-recipient of the Officer of the Year in Three Rivers last year.

She died from an auto immune disease that was diagnosed in September.
McDonough says the K-9’s are invaluable to the force and has begun a fund-raising campaign to replace Anjia.  He says he has contributed $1,400 and they will need $10,000 to buy and train a new dog, and its just not in the budget.
