KALAMAZOO -- Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Deputies have issued drug-related charges to one young man after a girl he was with assaulted an officer in the lobby of the Sheriff's Department. The pair were in the lobby of the Sheriff's department apparently intoxicated or under the influence of some type of narcotic.
Deputies determined the 15-year-old girl had given them a false name and when they investigated further she lost control and struck an officer with a metal chair. They took her to the county's juvenile home, but she remained hostile.
Further investigation of the 18-year-old male led deputies to his vehicle where they found prescription drugs that he did not possess legally, though he admitted to owning them.
They expect to charge him with Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, and to charge her with Assaulting a Police Officer.
