PAW PAW -- Dog Owners in Van Buren County have gotten an early Christmas Gift from the County Board.  They have rejected a proposed ordinance that would have ticketed dog owners if their pets barked, yelped or cried for more than 15-minutes between 10pm and 8AM.

After two years of discussion, the ordinance had acquired exceptions for dogs that were being provoked, or acting as a guard dog.  Critics called it an intrusion by government of their civil rights. Others said it was so vague that it would be unenforceable.  Hunters called a provision requiring that dogs be on a leash, too restrictive.

In the end, the proposal only could muster one vote
