KALAMAZOO -- As we first announced last spring Jon Stryker’s Arcus Foundation was exploring the idea of a social justice Training Center at Kalamazoo College.
They have done that. Now they are giving the private Liberal Arts College 2.1 million in start up money and may eventually set up a trust that will generate a million dollars annually for its operation. That may be the biggest single commitment of outside cash to Kalamazoo College ever.
Gloria Royal at The Arcus Foundation says the goal of the center is to train the next generation of social-justice leaders. Royal says they will know in the spring when classes will begin. It will be based where the Stryker Center has been located at the top of Academy Street.
