CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) – The COVID-19 pandemic has wiped out all of the county fairs in our area.
The latest to throw in the sponge is the St. Joseph County Grange Fair that was scheduled to run during the week of September 20.
The Fair Board of Directors announced on Monday night that they had voted to cancel this years fair in a decision that they say was not made lightly.
Just like other county fairs that have been scrubbed, the board said in wake of the pandemic and Governor Whitmer’s Safe Start Plan, holding a traditional in person fair was not feasible.
In the statement issued by the board, they said they hold the safety of everyone connected with the fair in the highest regard.
Vendors and campers or anyone who bought a pre-purchased wristband voucher are asked to contact the fair office by August 7 to get a refund for 2020, otherwise the money will be transferred to the 2021 Fair.
Already called off for this year are fairs in Branch, Calhoun and Hillsdale Counties.
