Ag. Weather Outlook 5-21-2014

by Tim Abramowski

Thunderstorms added a little extra drama to your early morning hours. OK they probably added a lot since one oclock weekday mornings isnt exactly prime time for drama in most of our lives. Anywhere from three-tenths to three-quarters of an inch to nothing at all now resides in rain gages thanks to the latest cold front. Thats going to have to hold us for a while as dry cooler air takes over during the afternoon and doesnt budge through the Memorial Day weekend. Maybe therell be spotty showers early next week maybe not. Its still too early to say with any conviction. What is important is rain this week, and hopefully no hail where you call home, plus fairly minimal frost/freeze damage last week helps put a positive spin on things wrapping up May. The warmer than normal temperatures going into the start of the new month ups the growing degree day count and thats just icing on the cake.
