Ag. Weather Outlook 2-25-2014

by Tim Abramowski

With sub-zero temperatures on the doorstep again the thought of a getaway cruise sounds appealing.  Places like tropical Caribbean ports of call or the South Seas come to mind.  Then I heard about Titanic II.  It’s at least of couple of years away from a projected launch.  Currently Titanic II is docked in the mind of Australian billionaire Clive Palmer who says he expects it to be completed and ready to sail from Shanghai in 2016.  So far – 40-thousand people say they’re interested in buying tickets for the first voyage.  There are no icebergs off the Chinese coast so maybe that’ll be a possible getaway…someday.  Keep in mind though the same Clive Palmer four years ago attempted to launch the first commercially viable Zeppelin company.  Before that it was a Jurassic Park style dinosaur theme park near his golf resort.  Pure Michigan’s sounding like a better vacation bet all the time – even for us winter weary.  Heading to Manitowoc aboard the SS Badger you can still be ‘king of the world’ – once the ice melts.  Reports indicate the Titanic-obsessed Chinese are constructing another replica of the famous vessel in a remote part of Sichuan province.  The price tag for this Titanic stands at 170-million U-S dollars.  …just hope they don’t scrimp on lifeboats or binoculars…
