PONTIAC, MI (WHTC) – The former home of the Detroit Lions, Pistons and Michigan Panthers will be demolished.
Demolition of the Pontiac Silverdome which has been on the maret for 29-million dollars for the last six months without a buyer, will take place sometime in the spring of 2016.
The stadium and its 127-acre parcel is owned by the Triple Investment Group. They believe it will be easier to redevelop the land is the Silverdome is gone.
The roof was damaged in 2013 and after that the stadium began to deteriorate.
The dome was also home to many rock concerts back in the day. The Rolling Stones and The Who both played shows there in the 1980’s.
