An open house Monday will discuss planned construction this summer along M-43 in downtown Kalamazoo and upgrades to six intersections on the city’s north side and at its northern gateways.
The Michigan Department of Transportation and city of Kalamazoo are partnering on streetscape improvements that include the intersections. The upgrades focus on nonmotorized traffic including bricked crosswalks, green space, pedestrian-level lighting and enhanced scenery, according to a news release.
The open house is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Northside Association for Community Development, 612 N. Park St.
Representatives from MDOT and the city will discuss that work, as well as plans for rebuilding a pump station, improving the storm sewer and repaving M-43 from the Kalamazoo River to East Michigan Avenue
