GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — It looks like this relatively mild stretch of weather which lasted through the holidays is over and we will be in for a nasty patch of cold and snow for the rest of the work week.
Meteorologist Janis Laurens at the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids says falling snow and plummeting temperatures may make road conditions worse this afternoon.
A winter weather advisory for Lake Effect Snow is in effect through 10 a.m. Thursday morning but he says it may be extended.
He says blowing and drifting will make it all seem worse, with low wind chills and shifting piles of snow.
He says the really cold temperatures will limit the effectiveness of street salts.
He says by the time this storm system passes through the area this weekend, we could accumulate 4 to 8 fresh inches of snow.
